Typical Accountabilities

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement the business unit’s long-term strategic plans and annual operating plans.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, and customer insights to identify growth opportunities.
  • Drive strategic initiatives that strengthen market position and competitive advantage.

2. P&L and Financial Management

  • Own full P&L responsibility for the business unit, including forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Ensure revenue, margin, and profitability targets are met or exceeded.
  • Optimize cost structures and resource allocation.

3. Commercial & Business Development

  • Lead business development activities to acquire new clients, expand accounts, and accelerate revenue growth.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Oversee pricing strategies, contract negotiations, and proposal development.

4. Operational Excellence

  • Ensure efficient operations across sales, marketing, customer service, and delivery functions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in processes, performance metrics, and operational execution.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

5. Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, inspire, and develop high-performing teams across the business unit.
  • Set performance objectives, conduct evaluations, and implement talent development plans.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Finance, HR, Marketing, Supply Chain, and other corporate functions to align strategies and ensure successful execution.
  • Represent the business unit in leadership meetings, strategic discussions, and corporate initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or related field.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in business management, sales, strategy, or related functions.
  • Demonstrated success managing P&L and driving business growth.
  • Experience leading teams and managing cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Industry-specific expertise (optional depending on company).

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong strategic thinking and commercial acumen.
    Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and financial management capabilities.
