Job: Application Engineer / OLED Physics   

                                                                      

Job Purpose:

Studies the physical characteristics of substances (OLED materials) through the fabrication of OLED devices and translates these into product ideas. Develops the optimum OLED device structure to maximize the material performance in customer use. Develops and implements scale-up programs for processing substances, including process/project engineering, safety/hazard analysis and other technical support areas.

 

 

Key Accountabilities:

• Responsible for the execution of a broad range of sometimes complex tasks within established guidelines, standard operating procedures and defined processes and helps determine the appropriate approach for new assignments.
• Applies technical expertise in the analyses of factual information, takes a broader perspective to problems and adapts solutions, anticipates patterns and links, looks beyond the immediate problem to the wider implications.
• Shows business acumen beyond the team and understands how the team integrates with other teams and how they complement and support each other in order to achieve shared objectives of the area.
• Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of a technical or business support team to ensure team effectiveness.
• Contributes to the motivation, performance and development of team through setting objectives, coaching employees, appraisal of performance and determination of reward outcomes.

• Impacts on own and closely related teams through providing value-added products, services or information that are important to decision making beyond own team, or through responsibility for the volume, quality and timeliness of team results.

• Contributes to the planning of resources, budgets and policies.

 

Tasks

• Fabricating and analyzing OLED devices to develop OLED material
• Conducting experimental plans for OLED device fabrication and measurement under consideration of projects, targets, customer requirements, risks, timelines and costs
• Documentation and management of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of Lab. process
• Ensuring patent-protection of development progress by invention reports
• Ensuring the operability of the lab, tools and equipment
• Planning and ensuring availability of consumables
• Contributing in setting up targets, strategies and concepts for Merck’s OLED business

 

Education/Knowledge:

• Bachelor’s or above degree in a topic related to OLED physics, optics, electronics or engineering
• General knowledge of optics, electronics and OLEDs’ working principle
• Preferably  experience of operating OLED evaporators and making OLED devices
• Fluent in both spoken and written English
• Ability to work in a results driven environment and carry out technical work accurately and with enthusiasm
• High level of motivation
• Good communication skills, with ability to precisely and accurately record results
• Excellent team player, showing initiative combined with very good organizational skills.
• Flexibility to change priorities at short notice and work to tight deadlines
• Experience or potential in working in an international environment and open to different cultures
